Privacy Policy

SaferCarry.com (“SaferCarry,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) provides concealed carry legality information, a reciprocity map, an instructor and range directory, and related content and tools (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Our Commitment
We know our users care about privacy more than most — you're researching how to lawfully exercise a constitutional right, and many of you value discretion about that. We collect only what we need to operate the Service, we do not sell your personal information, and we design our data practices with that expectation of discretion in mind. Specific commitments are detailed throughout this policy, including Section 3.1 (what we intentionally do not collect) and Section 6 (no sale of personal information).
1. Scope
This Policy applies to information collected through SaferCarry.com, our mobile-optimized site, and related services. It does not apply to third-party sites we link to, including Partner websites, affiliate offers, or payment processors, which have their own privacy policies.

3. Our Data Minimization Commitment
Given the sensitive nature of firearms-related research, we intentionally limit what we ask for. We deliberately do NOT ask for or permanently store:
- Your specific firearms owned, make/model, or serial numbers
- Your concealed carry permit number or license ID
- Your specific permit selections tied to your identity. When you generate a personalized Gap Report, your permit stack is processed in real-time to generate the PDF and is immediately discarded. We store your email to deliver the report, but we deploy a Permit-Blind Architecture for your personal permit combination.
- Government ID or Social Security number
- Precise GPS location (we use state/region-level data only for legality lookups)
If a feature ever requires collecting information beyond what's described here (for example, permit verification for a future feature), we will update this Policy and seek your consent before collecting it, where required by law.
4. How We Use Information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service, including state legality content, the reciprocity map, and directory search;
- To deliver requested digital products (such as your dynamically generated Gap Report PDF);
- To process membership subscriptions and Partner listing payments;
- To send you account, billing, and legal-update notifications you've opted into (e.g., “your saved state's law changed”);
- To send marketing communications and periodic newsletter updates regarding changing reciprocity laws, only if you've opted in, and always with an easy opt-out;
- To detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, or security issues;
- To understand aggregate usage trends (e.g., which state pages are most visited) so we can prioritize content updates.
5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for:
- Essential functionality (keeping you logged in, remembering saved states);
- Analytics (understanding aggregate site usage — we use tools configured to minimize or avoid collecting precise personal identifiers where possible);
- Affiliate and advertising tracking (attributing purchases made through affiliate links; these cookies are typically set by our affiliate network partners, not SaferCarry directly).
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them; some Service features may not function properly if you do. Where required, we will present a cookie consent banner allowing you to manage non-essential cookies before they are set.
6. No Sale of Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. Where applicable state law defines “sale” or “sharing” broadly (for example, to include certain advertising or analytics integrations), we will identify any such practices here and provide an opt-out as described in Section 10, but our default posture is not to engage in the sale of personal information as commonly understood.
7. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
- Service providers: payment processing, hosting, email delivery, and analytics vendors, bound by contract to use data only to provide services to us;
- Affiliate networks: when you click an affiliate link, the destination site and its network may independently collect data per their own privacy policy;
- Partners: if you contact or engage a directory Partner, information you choose to share with them (e.g., through a contact form) is governed by that Partner's own practices;
- Legal & safety: if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SaferCarry, our users, or the public;
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you as required by law.
We do not share your account information or email marketing lists with firearms manufacturers, insurers, or government agencies except as required by law.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time, as described in Section 10.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards — including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed password storage, and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. We will notify affected users and applicable regulators of any data breach as required by law.
10. Your Privacy Rights
10.1 General Rights
Depending on your state of residence, you may have the right to:
- Know/access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Delete your personal information, subject to certain exceptions;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising;
- Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a portable format);
- Non-discrimination for exercising these rights.
10.2 State-Specific Notices
Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws may have specific rights under those laws (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, VCDPA, CPA, CTDPA, UCPA). If you are a resident of a state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may exercise your rights by contacting us as provided below.
10.3 Global Privacy Control
Where required by law, we will honor recognized opt-out signals such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC) as a valid request to opt out of the sale/sharing of personal information for browsers that send it.
10.4 How to Exercise Your Rights
Submit a request via email to support@safercarry.com. We will verify your identity before fulfilling requests involving access or deletion, and will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
11. Marketing Communications
If you opt in to marketing emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or through your account settings. You cannot opt out of essential service communications (e.g., billing notices, security alerts) while your account remains active.
12. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have collected information from a child under 18 without appropriate consent, we will delete it. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information.
13. Third-Party Links
The Service contains links to third-party websites, including Partner sites and affiliate offers. This Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party site you visit.
14. International Users
The Service is intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective Date” above and, for material changes, provide additional notice (such as an email or on-site banner) before the changes take effect.
